Experience

SAFETY SPECIALIST | AUSTIN-TRAVIS COUNTY EMS | 12/2022 - PRESENT
 Performs investigations on ambulance collisions, facility inspections, respiratory fit tests, and provide
education for incumbent and cadet employees on a variety of safety topics like ambulance driving,
general risk mitigation strategies, and infection control.
 Provide occupational safety expertise and guidance utilizing historical injury data to agency with a $110
Million budget to improve overall safety culture.
 Utilized training in Microsoft suite of power tools and software (including forms, power automate, and
Power BI) to streamline and automate collision and duty-related injury data from newly designed forms
into powerful interactive safety dashboards that update automatically on submission.

 Utilize TapRoot® software to investigate injuries and other incidents in identifying causal factors, root
causes, and develop effective corrective actions.

MANAGER | IU HEALTH BLOOMINGTON-EMS | 4/2020 – 11/2022
 Chief EMS officer of county-wide hospital-based ambulance service covering 411 square miles, handling
all 20,000 + EMS requests within, for both 911 and interfacility transport care.
 Manage daily operations which includes a shift commander, paramedic chase, and 7 ambulances at peak,
in addition to providing thousands of special event hours for Indiana University and other local entities.
 Responsible for recruitment, hiring, coaching, and discipline for service with 63 direct reports.
 Lead enrollment efforts to become a research site for EMS Fatigue Study by Dr. Daniel Patterson.
 Assist educators with Continuous Quality Improvement efforts and a variety of trainings for staff.
 Maintain relationships with internal hospital, external public safety, and other community stakeholders
through membership on a variety of committees and boards.
 Working within my team and other outside agencies including county 911 PSAP dispatch center ran by
the police, and city and county fire officials, successfully implemented new medical priority dispatch
system which decreased Lights and Sirens response 20-25% and led to more efficient use of resources.
 During 1 st 2 years lead or substantially contributed to major building projects including: design from
needs assessment, build, and move into 2 new stations, a 3-apparatus crew station, and a 20,000 square
foot new headquarter facility.
 Assisted with planning, logistics, and implementation of large patient move (142 patients in 1 day) into
new facility in December 2021 (during peak omicron COVID).
 Was key part of integration of service into larger statewide organization (IU Health Lifeline), combining
all facets of operations, logistics, education to form the largest EMS service in the state.

PARAMEDIC | INDIANAPOLIS EMS | 8/2006 - PRESENT
 Instructor in Multiple Disciplines and Volunteer Clinical Lecturer for IU School of Medicine.
 Peer support team member.
 Served as Field Training Officer and Preceptor for new hires and initial education students.
 Served on numerous committees throughout tenure, including agency-wide policy counsel, labor-
management, provider safety, patient safety, and Indianapolis EMS response redesign.
 Outstanding Peer Award Winner 2015, Indianapolis Department of Public Safety.
 Unit Citation 2016 for being on committee that brought defensive tactics training to agency.

SAFETY OFFICER | INDIANAPOLIS EMS | 6/2017 – 3/2019
 Responsible for overall development, implementation and oversight of policies that promote and ensure
the safety of the employees of Indianapolis EMS.
 Worked with hospital administrators and IEMS leadership team in evaluating workers compensation
costs associated with injuries and develop strategies to decrease costs associated with injuries.
 Covered 56 ambulances as part of my duties over two shifts.
 Responded to and investigated employee injuries, exposures, and department vehicle incidents.
 Assisted with training of employees and supervisors in different areas of safety during initial onboarding.

WORKSITE HEALTH TECHNICIAN | MEDCOR | 4/2019 – 4/2020
 Part-time industrial health clinic technician working alone in a Walmart eCommerce fulfillment center.
 Along with staffing a clinic, providing first aid and emergency care, interacted with employees and
perform frequent safety audit walks around 1.2 million square feet facility.

 Elected representative of the roughly 250 EMT’s and Paramedics at Indianapolis EMS, dealing with day-
to-day labor issues and advocating for a safe work environment for employees.
 Lead negotiator in 2016 Contract Negotiations.

 Worked on variety of projects in creating an ambulance strike team non-profit entity and introducing
